COMPARISON BETWEEN CHINESE AND COLOMBIAN CULTURES DIMENSIONS

China and Colombia are far miles away; it is expected that their cultures be different, although they share similarities based on Hofstede model. Their percentage levels of masculinity, individualism and indulgence are proof of this. Colombian and chinese inguldence scores are very different, while Colombia has 83% , China has 13%.

This shows that Colombians prefer realise their wishes and impulses looking for happines instead of followin the rules, in constrast with Chinese people who are more pessimist and tend to control their time. If we talk about the levels of masculinity, we see that Colombia and China have a very similar score (64 %  and 66% respectively). This means that they are always looking for success, achievement: Chinese people work hard for this and Colombian people are very competitive to do this. Finally, the scores of individualism are very similar too, both cultures hav a low score in this category, around 15%.

This show that both countries share a collectivist culture where they prefer act in the interests of the group and not necessarily of themselves. In conclusion, China and Colombia have similarities referring to their culture beyond the distance.
